Pure Reason Revolution, formed in London in 2003, initially gained recognition with their debut album, “The Dark Third” (2006). This album, produced by Paul Northfield, presented a modern take on classic progressive rock, blending ’70s prog influences with modern alternative rock and electronic elements.

The core of the band was established by Jon Courtney and Chloë Alper. Following their debut, they shifted towards a more electronic and experimental sound with albums “Amor Vincit Omnia” (2009) and “Hammer and Anvil” (2010), incorporating heavier use of synthesizers while maintaining their art rock roots.

After a hiatus, they made a strong comeback with “Eupnea” in 2020, which combined their early experimental style with the musical maturity they had gained over the years. Their subsequent release, “Above Cirrus” in 2022, further solidified their reputation as innovative leaders in modern experimental and electronic rock.

In September 2024, Pure Reason Revolution is set to release their latest album, “Coming Up to Consciousness.” This album marks a significant lineup change, with Annicke Shireen replacing Chloë Alper. The new album delves into themes of betrayal, deception, fear, grief, mortality, and questions of sanity, showcasing the band’s continued evolution and exploration within the genre.

Pure Reason Revolution’s journey from “The Dark Third” to “Coming Up to Consciousness” demonstrates their ability to adapt and innovate, making them a notable presence in the experimental and electronic rock scenes.
