In 2021, Soup released their critically acclaimed album Visions, a project that pushes the boundaries of their sonic landscape. If Godspeed You! Black Emperor ventured into jazz with Richard Wright as producer and a stressed-out Brian Eno mixing it down to cassette, you’d get close to what Visions achieves. Self-produced by the band and intentionally countering the trend of loudness and high fidelity, the album offers a distinctive, low-fi experience. The visual journey of Visions is beautifully captured by long-time collaborator Lasse Hoile, whose cover art continues the narrative from Soup’s previous albums.
