The origins of TEMIC trace back to 2017 when Tejeida and Gillette toured globally as members of Mike Portnoy’s Shattered Fortress. Their immediate musical chemistry led to discussions about starting a band. However, conflicting commitments delayed their plans until the 2020 global standstill. Tejeida then reached out to Gillette with a pivotal question: “Remember how we said we should make music together? Well, how about now?”
This sparked the creation of demos for TEMIC’s 2023 debut album, Terror Management Theory. Their vision was clear: to create progressive music influenced by high-energy electronic sounds, arranged for a 5-piece modern prog rock/metal band where the pulse and vocal melody are paramount.
Tejeida and Gillette sought the best bandmates, starting with their drummer friend Sandnes, who eagerly joined to provide the percussive backbone of TEMIC. For vocals, Sandnes recommended Klemp, whose emotive and intense delivery was perfect for the band’s sound. To complete the rhythm section, they invited bassist Jacob Umansky (Intervals) as a guest player, adding his unique groove and signature low-end sound to the album.
This formidable lineup forms TEMIC, a high-energy, electronic-inspired, modern melodic prog metal band poised for the next generation.
